These aren’t just any wood chunks. Our Red Wine BBQ Smoking Chunks are made from the very barrels that once held ageing red wine — retired Spanish oak casks that have spent years absorbing the deep, tannic complexity of some of Iberia’s most celebrated full-bodied reds. Sourced directly from Spain and dried to the perfect moisture level for smoking, each chunk carries with it a depth of character that ordinary hardwood simply cannot replicate.

When placed on hot coals or inside a smoker, Red Wine Barrel Chunks release a slow, steady smoke with bold earthy notes, dark berry richness, and a subtle tannic depth inherited from the wine itself. The result is a robust, full-flavoured smoke that elevates everything from slow-cooked beef brisket to hearty smoked lamb.

How to use

Red Wine Barrel Chunks are designed to be used as smoking chunks — not chips. Their larger size means they burn more slowly, giving you a sustained smoke over a longer cook. They work brilliantly on all BBQ setups including offset smokers, kamado grills (such as Big Green Egg or Kamado Joe), kettle grills, and pellet-fed smokers with a chunk box.

No soaking required. Dry chunks produce cleaner, more consistent smoke than wet ones. Simply place 2–3 chunks directly onto lit charcoal or your heat source before closing the lid and cooking low and slow.
